About us

Colectivo de Paz

Colectivo de Paz is a grassroots nonprofit that creates ‘Communities of Action’ through proactive advocacy and responsive services to meet the immediate and systemic needs of Metro Denver’s historically underserved communities.

Founded in 2021, CDP operates under the ‘person-centered’ and ‘community-first’  organizing methodology that combines both responsive services addressing immediate community needs and proactive programming building long-term self-advocacy capacity.

Our Mission

Colectivo de Paz is a grassroots nonprofit that creates ‘Communities of Action’ through proactive advocacy and responsive services to meet the immediate and systemic needs of Metro Denver’s historically underserved communities.

Core Values

Responsiveness

We actively listen to and address the immediate needs of our community through direct services and mutual aid, ensuring our work remains relevant and impactful.

Proactivity

We anticipate challenges, build preventive solutions, and create sustainable systems through advocacy and capacity-building that empower communities to address both their immediate and long-term needs.

Intentionality

Every action we take is purposeful and well-considered, ensuring our work aligns with our mission and creates meaningful impact rather than just symbolic change.

Intersectionality

We recognize and honor how different forms of identity, privilege, and oppression interconnect, shaping our approach to ensure our work serves and includes all members of our diverse community.

Driven by Community

Our direction, decisions, and actions are guided by the voices, needs, and leadership of the communities we serve as operationalized in the mass-line we derive from our community, embodying the principle that those closest to the problems are closest to the solutions.
1: Get Pre-Approved
  • The first step is connecting with a trusted lender.
  • Don’t have one? I can connect you with local lenders I trust.
  • It’s smart to get multiple quotes so you can compare rates and programs.
2: Find a Real Estate Agent
  • Work with a local agent (like me!) who knows Michigan’s market.
  • I’ll guide you through the process and negotiate on your behalf.

Core Programs

Community Aid and Resource Exchange

CDP’s flagship mutual aid program provides essential resources to unhoused neighbors and at-risk community members through weekly distribution drives. Operating from the Global Kitchen at the University of Denver, CARE volunteers prepare freshly-cooked hot meals and distribute them alongside hygiene kits, clothing.

Urban Scholars Youth Network for Collaboration

A peer-led youth empowerment program providing skill-building workshops, leadership development, and community organizing training for at-risk youth aged 15-20. USYNC teaches self-reliance, provides life skills training, and equips young people with tools for self-advocacy and community power-building.

Community Pathways Navigators

A comprehensive case management program providing individualized support to connect at-risk community members with essential resources including housing, healthcare, legal services, employment assistance, and benefits enrollment.

Civic Advocacy and Lobbying

Grassroots organizing and advocacy work at local, state, and federal levels, engaging in coalition-building and legislative advocacy around progressive policy initiatives that impact marginalized communities.
