Comida del Colectivo / Food for the Collective
Food insecurity is rising while federal safety-net programs are shrinking — and Colectivo de Paz is building food sovereignty for the families who need it most.
Our partner for this campaign is Denver Community Fridges — a community-driven network expanding food access across Denver and Aurora neighborhoods.

Why this matters
HR 1 (often referred to as the “Big Beautiful Bill”) is projected to cut between roughly $186 billion and nearly $300 billion from SNAP over ten years, depending on the source. Multiple policy organizations have described this as the largest SNAP reduction in US history, representing approximately a 20–30% reduction in projected federal SNAP spending.
These cuts are expected to increase pressure on schools, more than what food pantries, mutual aid organizations, and community nonprofits can support in their current capacity. Colectivo de Paz is working to ensure no children in Aurora & Denver have to go hungry in these trying times.
