The \u201cComida Del Colectivo \/ Food For The Collective\u201d campaign is a community-based capital campaign focused on increasing food access for students and families through the\u00a0installation of fresh food refrigerators at Aurora elementary schools<\/strong>, ensuring that a community of approximately\u00a0500 students, their families, and community members<\/strong>\u00a0have daily access to healthy and nutritious food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comida Del Colectivo: Food For The Collective<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Food insecurity is rapidly increasing while the federal safety net is being significantly reduced.<\/strong> As organizations serving working-class families, immigrant communities, and communities experiencing economic precarity, we must prepare for growing needs while federal programs are simultaneously shrinking. The \u201cComida Del Colectivo \/ Food For The Collective\u201d campaign aims to build food sovereignty for these communities so that all our children can have accessible, affordable and nutritious food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

H.R. 1 (often referred to as the \u201cBig Beautiful Bill\u201d) is projected to cut between roughly $186 billion and nearly $300 billion from SNAP over ten years, depending on the source. Multiple policy organizations have described this as the largest SNAP reduction in U.S. history, representing approximately a 20\u201330% reduction in projected federal SNAP spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These cuts are expected to increase pressure on schools, These cuts are expected to increase pressure on schools, more than what food pantries, mutual aid organizations, and community nonprofits can support in their current capacity. So, Colectivo de Paz is working to ensure no child in Aurora & Denver has to go hungry in these trying times.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
